Showcase of Homes Tour External Community Event

After a 2-year hiatus due to Covid-19, Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe is bringing back their Signature event, Showcase of Homes Tour. Showcase of Homes Tour will be back on Saturday, October 1st from 9:30AM – 4:30PM!  

Showcase of Homes Tour is a self-guided tour through 6 beautiful homes in North Simcoe. This tour is one of our Signature fundraisers, and it is essential to helping provide intentional mentorship programming to young people in our communities.  

Early Bird Tickets are $45 until September 15th, after which they are $50. Tickets are be available at:⁠ Saturday Afternoons, Cafe Kittyhawk, Remax Georgian Bay Realty Ltd. Brokerage, and the Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe office. 

Tickets include a $10 Lunch voucher valid at 6 restaurants in North Simcoe.  

This event is in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe and all funds raised stay local.

The Bay Studio Tour 2022 Penetanguishene Event

Pottery, wood carving, glass work, sculpture, painting, photography, jewelery, fiber art, mixed media and much more.

Marsh by Moonlight - Fall Paddle External Community Event

6:30 PM| Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, 16160 Hwy 12, Midland

The Marsh by Moonlight Paddle Series features a guided voyageur style canoe tour through the sparkling moonlight waters of the Wye Marsh. Twinkling voyageur canoes and boardwalk, night noises, bannock roasted over the open fire accompanied with a hot drink will make for an unforgettable night! Connect with nature and experience the Wye Marsh in a way that not many people have the opportunity to!

Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre
When: September 30, October 1, October 7, October 8 & October 9, 2022 from 6:30pm - 8:30pm
How Much: $75.00 per participant, includes life vest, and a small gift to hold as a memory of the night!
Who: Ages 13+. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Rotary Champlain Wendat Park Walking Tour Town Organized Event

10:30 AM| Tour will start at the Curling Club parking lot

Take a walk in the park with the Penetanguishene Museum on October 4th and learn about the Indigenous and Franco-Ontarian history of our area. Tour will meet at 10:30 am in the Curling Club parking lot (8 Owen St.). Tickets are $7 per person. Children 12 and under are free but must preregister. This is an outdoor event so please dress accordingly.

10:30 AM| Tour will start at the Curling Club parking lot (8 Owen Street)

Take a walk downtown Penetanguishene and learn about the history of local homes and businesses on October 6th. Tour will start at 10:30 am at the Curling Club parking lot (8 Owen St.) Tickets are $7 per person. Children 12 and under are free but must also preregister. This is an outdoor event so please dress accordingly.

North Simcoe Rotaract's Cozy Coffee House Penetanguishene Event

A night of good music, great coffee, board games + baked goods in support of Bridget's Bunnies!
 
Join the North Simcoe Rotaract Club as they host their first ever Cozy Coffee House in support of Bridget's Bunnies – a pregnancy & infant loss awareness and support group. Admission gets you one delicious cup of coffee provided by Café Kittyhawk or apple cider made by our Rotaractors, plus access to the amazing board game catalog of Rotaract members, and live music presented by local artists Chris Genier and Kristi Pressé.
 
 
About The Cause
Bridget’s Bunnies supports families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss. With help from the community, Bridget’s Bunnies continues to provide comfort kits to local healthcare partners and individuals through their request page.

Yoga at Wye Marsh: Relax and Unwind External Community Event

8:00 AM| Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, 16160 Highway 12 East, Midland ON

 

Get in tune with nature as you relax with gentle stretches and zen poses on the boardwalk at Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre with Terri Brophy.

Please bring your own yoga mats and props (a blanket, blocks, bolster, etc.) Please also consider bringing a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen.

~ Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre

~ When: Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 8:00am - 9:00am.

~ How much: $15.00

~ Who: Participants with any yoga ability are welcome. No age restriction but young children should not attend as silence would be honoured during the practice.

Our Health-Be Happy External Community Event

5:00 PM| 729 Portage Park Lane, Midland, Ontario L4R 5G3

This program is for everyone who wants to feel some happiness in their day!

Hear our four life experts weigh in on happiness. Joining us on October 26, will be a psychiatrist (and CEO), a music therapist (and fiddler), a qualifying psychotherapist (also an indigenous artist) and a physiotherapist (a motivator and fun guy).

This event will be held in person at the Midland Cultural Centre with free registration and also broadcast live on Rogers TV throughout Simcoe County and online on YouTube.

Meet the Spirits of St James on the Lines Town Organized Event

Winter Finches Workshop External Community Event

9:30 AM| Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre

If you are a beginning birder, or you just want to brush up on your skills, join us for a birding ID workshop. The Winter Finches Workshop will include insights into identification of all Ontario finches, how best to attract finches to your backyard (feeders/feed), a look into yearly and lifetime cycles that finches follow, and an interpretive hike to observe finches. How well do you know your finches? Can you ID these species? You will be able to after this workshop! Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre When: Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:30am - 12:30pm How much: $35.00 per person. Price includes admission to our interpretive centre and trails for day following the workshop to go out and utilize your new found skills at birding. Who: All ages are welcome to attend. Youth under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Birding can happen in all weather! Please dress appropriately for an outdoor portion of the workshop. Meet the 2022-2026 Council Elect External Community Event

Mayor-Elect Douglas Rawson is inviting everyone to the Penetanguishene Curling Club/Team Howard Community Centre, Owen Street, Penetanguishene, on Sunday, October 30th, at 3 pm.

We want to allow the community to meet the 2022-2026 newly elected council team while we take time to pass on our thanks. I hope you can join us on Sunday for a Meet and Greet with our newly elected council.
