Description:
Grab a lantern and discover the shadows of the past as you explore the darkened 17th 
century historic mission of Sainte-Marie.
Watch the sparks fly in the blacksmith shop. Roast bannock on a stick. Hear the 
creatures of the Wye River stir to life. Sip tea by the crackling fire in the longhouse, 
listen to Indigenous stories, and imagine what Wendake would have been like in the 
1600s at night.
This is a small-group experience. Advanced tickets are highly recommended to avoid 
disappointment.
Tickets: $ 20 tax included – not recommended for kids 10 and under

Camp Britannia: a soldier’s overnight adventure Penetanguishene Event

March back in time this summer as you embark on an extraordinary journey with us, stepping into the shoes of a 19th-century British soldier. Join us for an unforgettable adventure, offering a unique opportunity to live and breathe the fascinating world of the the British military at the Penetanguishene Establishment (today’s Discovery Harbour)

Arrival 3PM Friday and departure 10AM Saturday. 

This overnight adventure costs $150.00, including tax, for adults and $60.00, including tax, for youth ages 10-15.

Bayside Summer Soiree Town Organized Event

The Bayside Summer Soiree is a weekly outdoor event set upon the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay in Penetanguishene.  The Bayside Summer Soiree is a great way to spend your Friday nights, listening to live music, entertainment, outdoor movies and much more all summer long from June to September! 

Event Location: Amphitheatre, 8 Owen Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario (Beside the Penetanguishene Curling Club)

Ghost Tours at Discovery Harbour Penetanguishene Event

Ghost Tours at Discovery Harbour

Join us on Saturday evenings this summer for a lantern-lit guided tour revealing the supernatural side of Discovery Harbour!

The tour experience is approximately 1.5 – 2 hours in length and involves a considerable amount of walking. Tours proceed rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

Ghost Tours departure times vary as the summer months progress – The Discovery Harbour team has designed the tours to sync with the sunset so the spooky factor is maximized!

New this year

Each Saturday at 7 p.m. join us at Discovery Harbour for a Ghost Tour that starts in the evening hours. Perfect for those with younger children who would like to get the kids into their beds at a reasonable time.

Make and Take Wednesdays Town Organized Event

10:30 AM| 13 Burke Street, Penetanguishene, ON L9M 1C1

Travel back in time at the Museum! Running every other Wednesday in the summer, join us to make and take a fun historical item and learn about the lives of the past! Each week will be a different theme (soap, butter, paper, and candles). For ages 5-12 years old. Guardians are not required to attend. $10.00 per child and pre-registration is required. Resident and non-resident registration dates apply.

Deadly or Delicious? External Community Event

Ever walk through the forest and wonder which plants are tasty, which ones have healing powers, and which ones are toxic?
 
Find out the answers when you join us at the Wye Marsh to learn about some of the edible, medicinal, and poisonous plants living here. Gain an understanding of how to properly identify these plants, how some can be used beneficially, and the properties that make others harmful. Investigate these plants on a guided hike and create your own mini field guide to take home!
 
Where: Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre, 16160 Hwy 12 E, Midland
When: 9:30 am – 11:30 am
How much: $25
Who: 10+ (Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult)
 
Please note – this is not a foraging workshop as it is illegal to remove plants from a National Wildlife Area. Also remember to wear long pants, hiking shoes, and bring bug spray!

Historic Blacksmith Workshop Penetanguishene Event

 Join us for an immersive one-day workshop at Discovery Harbour on the shores of beautiful Penetanguishene Bay (Georgian Bay). Learn historic blacksmith skills alongside blacksmith instructor in a small group setting.

 

This program is designed for adults (15 years old+) and cost $200.00 including tax.

Escape Room at Discovery Harbour: Bo’sun’s Brig Penetanguishene Event

The Escape Room at Discovery Harbour is open 7 days week from May 18 – Sept 1!

Saturday evenings escapes rooms are availble from 6pm to 9pm. We also have 1pm and 3pm English timeslots available everyday and 11am French time slots offered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. 

Teams will have up to 1 hour to escape from the Brig, using clues and solving puzzles. You will need at least 4 players 16 years or older to successfully complete the challenges.

Tickets are $24.00 per person including tax. Advance ticket purchase is required.

Georgian Bay Tugboat Festival External Community Event

Georgian Bay Tugboat Festival will be held at the Midland Harbour and hosted by the Town of Midland. The Festival will feature a parade of lights at dusk and music on the pier Friday August 16, 2024. Then a full day of activities 10am-4pm on Saturday August 17, 2024 with free admission to the festival. This family friendly event will have lots of fun activities, face painting, live music, buskers, vendors, and demonstrations! 

While you’re there, you don’t want to miss the Northern Rib Series Midland Rib and Beer Fest in Harbourside Park with live music and carnival food favourites, as well as the midway carnival rides happening at the Habrour.
