Celebrating Indigenous Art & Culture Awareness Week, September 16-25, 2024, join us at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum and Archives with Brian Charles and his presentation Wampum Belts Woven Through Anishinaabe History.

Brian Charles is an off-reserve Band member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island and has worked collaboratively with a small group of knowledge keepers to research and assemble a collection of wampum belts connected to Ojibwe history. He’ll present on how wampum was used to record not only relationships and treaties between the First Peoples of the Eastern Woodland, but also with settler societies in Canada.
